Our favorite Stages

Porto Covo by Bike

Santiago - Milfontes

40km – 450m
Away from the coast, today’s stage allows us to immerse into the rural and laid-back interior of Alentejo. Horse breeding farms and cork farmers form the landscape. The famous porco preto enjoys the acorns and the shadow of Alentejo’s wide cork forests.

Mid of the this stage we reach the coast again near the picturesque blue-and-white coastal town Porto Covo. With the coast on our left we are on the straight way to the south now and finish this day 15km later at a manor near the pretty beach town Vila Nova de Milfontes.
Mid of the this sage we reach the coast again near the picturesque blue-and-white coastal town Porto Covo. In Porto Covo we go on sand roads southwards along the coast. We pass by the small island Ilha do Pessegueiro and finally reach Vila Nova de Milfontes.

Algarve & Alentejo by Bike

Milfontes - Odeceixe

65km – 850m elevation

Asphalted roads lead us through the large berry and vegetable farms until the lonesome light house of Cabo Sardao. Huge cliffs and beautiful beaches: The sandy panorama road to Zambujeira do Mar, the beaches of Zambujeira, Carvalhal and Azenhas do Mar are the heard of Costa Vicentina!
Along the water channels we cross the fields for a few km, always with the option of heading to the street if you don’t feel comfortable along the water.
A bit a bumpy road leads us down to the river valley of Rio Seixe. On the bridge over the river, we also cross the border to the Algarve region.

Lisbon - Lagos

Odeceixe - Aljezur

39km – 600m elevation

From the village of Odeceixe we head down the river valley to Praia de Odeceixe, one of Portugals most pretties. At the mouth of the river we face two uphills and we ride flat through the fields and the ancient water channels until we arrive the river valley of Aljezur at Praia de Amoreira.

The stage is quite short and the weather mostly good, best conditions for a stay at this beach a bit out of the crowed. Following the calm river valley for a while, we reach the historically significant town Aljezur, crowned by the ruins of a Moorish castle from the 10th century. Get some rest, load some energy in Aljezur; the toughest uphills of our journey is waiting: The steep way up to the castle and over to Monte Clerico. Once we reach the top, only a relaxed forest road with little ups and down leads us to the remote villages of Algarve.
